MAT-SU CENTRAL PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING #61 - WASILLA, AK
This 27,000 sq. ft. building located on Lucille Street in Wasilla, is constructed with a CMU apparatus bay and structural steel two-story office, training and living area. The project included complete design and construction based on a narrative provided by the Mat-Su Borough.
JOE REDINGTON SR. JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL - WASILLA, AK
While the design team is not under the contractor’s control, this CM/GC contract for a 108,000 sq. ft. building is similar in nature to D/B. Collins Construction was brought in to work with the design team prior to the drawings being completed. This allowed our team to offer suggestions in materials and construction methods which resulted in significant reduction on cost. In August 2016, Redington was nationally recognized for the impressive price saving methods and was certified LEED Gold.
HOUSTON FIRE STATION 9-2 - HOUSTON, AK
In September of 2015, Collins Construction, Inc. (CCI) had the privilege to build Public Safety Building (PSB) 9-2 for the City of Houston. The 5,227 sf. ft. PSB was constructed through the harsh Alaska winter and was completed ahead of schedule. During construction, CCI made recommendations to the design team and owner, which have now allowed the owner to award alterations within the budget. Through this project we have gained a better understanding of how the facility operates, also what the end user requirements are.
NUGEN'S RANCH - PT. MACKENZIE, AK
Collins Construction, Inc. (CCI) was awarded this project as a CM/GC project during the drawing stage at 35%. We worked diligently with the architects and engineers to finish the drawings and construct the main building. Savings found through GC/CM and additional funding brought to the project, allowed the scope to be increased to ultimately include five support buildings as additional Design-Build projects.
IDITAROD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- WASILLA, AK
This 51,000 sq. ft. school was successfully completed on time and under budget. Although this was not a Davis Bacon project, we believe that the design consistently continues to evolve during the construction phase. Our healthy relationship with the owner and design team allowed us to communicate efficiently and proactively to resolve any conflicts.
WASILLA POLICE STATION - WASILLA, AK
The City of Wasilla wanted to create a new community landmark and at the same time, improve response time for their police force. This new 21,000 sq. ft. station is co-located with the Veterans Wall of Honor. CCI was selected to work alongside the Owner and McCool Carlson Green (MCG) to design and build a more functional centralized police station within the City’s budget. This project was awarded to Collins Construction as a CM/GC type contract in December of 2018 at the 35% design level.
THE CHILDRENS PLACE - WASILLA, AK
The Children's Place is a facility that houses three separate agencies to provide support to victims and their families, investigate cases, and prosecute offenders. An emphasis on effective daylighting and highly insulative roof and wall systems was maintained throughout the facility. Efficient mechanical and electrical systems include high efficiency boiler, Heat Recovery Ventilation, LED lighting and building controls.
MAT-SU CAREER & TECH HIGH SCHOOL
This beautiful 109,000 sq. ft. building was constructed in two phases. The first being a 76,000 sq. ft. high school and the most recent 33,000 sq. ft. addition comprised of new classrooms, large teaching labs, flexible teaching spaces, mechanical rooms and a new learning center.

FRED AND SARA MACHENTANZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
This 53,000 sq. ft. school was built as the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified school in the state of Alaska and achieved a Silver certification. In the case of Machetanz, the certification process was accomplished after the fact and as the Green Building Council was establishing the various ratings. This effort took significant coordination between Collins Construction and McCool Carlson Green Architects. The best of current learning research was used while anticipating future trends in technology and education. The schools learning signature “A center for creating community” extends beyond the physical walls of the facility to establish the school as a community asset and affirm it as a catalyst for the creation of healthy, viable neighborhoods.

FRONTIERSMAN PRINTING PRESS
This building fulfilled a dream of having the Frontiersman Printing Press in the Mat-Su Valley. Previously, production took place in Anchorage and was delivered out to the Valley. Collins Construction worked with Architects of Alaska to make this dream a reality. The Steel building is 10,000+ sq. ft. with architectural designs added for aesthetic appearances. The facility required very specific, industry-related elements in the construction process, which Collins Construction delivered.
SUTTON PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Sutton Public Library was a vital project to the community of Sutton, Alaska. Borough Manager John Moosey, then new to the Borough, was proud of the accomplishment. “I think the Sutton community can rally around this. I think the support shown for this library is fabulous. It’s getting off to a great start, excellent design, great construction, good location, and community support. This is a true winner!” Moosey said.
